Back Home

Mom and I finally made it back home this week. I forgot how much I missed my toys and my bed! I do miss Indiana, Irie, and Josette though.

Last week I made a new friend named Ellen. She is the same age as me and she LOVES to play just like me! We tugged so hard I lost another tooth! I hope we get to play again soon!

This week started with a puppy class. It was a very busy one! First we came in and worked on close until everyone arrived. When everyone was there, we worked on obedience, mainly stay. After that us dogs switched raisers. I was not happy about that! I kept looking at Mom having a blast with Destiny and wishing I was with her. I had a pretty cool lady, though. She had really good treats and told me what a good girl I was when I listened to her. I guess switching wasn't that bad, but I was happy to get back to Mom after practicing walking on a loose leash a few times. After we went back to our raisers, we did an obstacle course, girls vs boys-Destiny and me vs Tracer and Chad. First our raisers had to sit in a chair and us pups would do a close. After that our raisers stood up and us pups did a heel and walked on a loose leash up to a tunnel made of chairs. We had to back up all the way through the tunnel and then do another heel so we could walk up to two people holding a pole in front of us. We had to sit-stay while our raisers walked to the other side and then called us. Destiny went first, doing a wonderful job, and then I went. Mom said I was pretty much perfect. She thinks it was because I was tired from Winter Break but I say it is just because I am so wonderful! Us girls won big time! Our moms got candy, but we got nothing. Jeeze, we did all the work and they get all the rewards. Oh wait, Mom did give me some tasty treats along the way, but still I could use some candy!

To end class we practiced getting dressed up. This may seem silly, but we need to get used to things being on our body for when we are real live guide dogs. I was not happy with my ensemble-it did not match at all and the color just washed me out. Mom said next time she will bring something more stylish for me.

Tuesday was a big day apparently. Mom was watching some guy on TV, so I decided to join in. I watched for a bit, but there weren't any dogs on there, so I didn't last long...

After that they left me in my crate FOREVER! OK, it was really only a couple of hours, but good thing I had my Kong. Mom would have been on my bad list if she didn't give me one...

We've been working on more commands this week since they are homework for the next puppy class. I have to learn how to give Mom my feet so she can put things on them like socks or to clip my nails. So far I can do my two front ones, but we have to get the back ones too. I guess Mom will have to add to my video when I finish all of my commands.

Winter Break is coming to an end...

Well, we are down to our final week of break before it's back to the daily grind that school brings. Last week was a pretty great week for me. On Monday, Mom and I went for a walk through town. I was such a good girl so Mom rewarded me with a trip to the pet store. Everyone commented on how cute I am, and Mom bought lots of treats. I made out like a bandit!

The rest of the week was spent mostly at home, or taking short walks. I got in some high-quality playtime with Indiana and Irie, which is always a blast. Mom has also been making me go in my crate more since I tend to have to spend time there while Mom is at school. I really do not enjoy it when she puts me in there without a frozen Kong or something. I mean, come on Mom, just because you toss an empty bone in there doesn't mean I will be occupied. I NEED that frozen kibbly goodness that is a Kong! So her plan is an hour every day, as well as back to sleeping in the crate. I know I'm just a baby still, but I was sleeping loose because I am such a good girl. No more of that for me, I guess :(

On Friday I had my first puppy class of winter break. Because of weather and my vacation I missed the other ones, but this one was well worth the wait. We went into this room and there were 4 other dogs there. I was so excited I just barked, and barked, oh and did I mention that I barked? Mom was not too pleased, but once we started working, I was quiet again. We practiced having to leave play with another dog for cookies (for cookies, I can handle that!) and settling. Then we went out into the hall and played Leap Dog. We all walked on a loose leash to our cone and then the first dog had to walk to the last cone (on a loose leash of course). Then, we all got put into a down-stay and our humans moved down a cone and called us. The teacher said I am very good at that, but I have to come closer to Mom. Guess what that means? Mom has to lure again with cookies. Yay! After this game we all went back into the room for playtime. I was the best keep-awayer there!

On Saturday Mom and I got up and going pretty early. First we stopped at the pet store again. She bought food, but it wasn't mine or Irie's or Indiana's. I was wondering what she was going to do with that bag, but I didn't think too much because I was happy to be there again. Do you know how good it smells in there???? Then we took a nice long ride and pulled into a driveway. Mom left me in the car, but I could hear dogs barking. Finally she came out and guess what she had?!?!

That's right! Mom got me my very own shepherd! I told her how much I loved them and she went and got me one. She is the best mom ever! Her name is Josette and she is super fun to play with. We have been having a blast together. Only problem is her and Irie get to sleep in bed with Mom every night and I get stuck in the crate. I just don't get it! I'm the good one and I get the short end of the stick. Hmph! Anyway, here are some pictures of us in the snow together.

My Vacation

I just got back from my vacation and boy did I have a great time! On Friday morning (right after Christmas) Mom dropped me off at the sitter's house. I was too busy exploring to notice Mom leaving and Kathy kept me too busy to even miss her. I visited her family, went on walks with some of my dog pals, and socialized at different places. When Mom called to check on me she said there was only one problem with me...she didn't want to give me back! I think that is a pretty good compliment! Kathy dropped me off at home today and I was so happy to see Indiana and Irie again...oh and Mom too. We went out socializing and to a favorite restaurant for us puppies. I was such a good little girl and slept through the whole meal. We also went for a walk on a very busy street and I was so comfortable, much better since my last evaluation.
