Puppy Class

Monday, May 4-

We had another puppy class tonight. This time we worked on underfootings and every pup had to bring some to share. We practiced our obedience commands on them. There was some bubble wrap (both big and small bubbles), a weird bath mat, a baby gate, a ramp, and a car mat. I performed perfectly on all of them. Most everyone in the class did as well. We also practiced doing long strings of commands. Our RM said I am the best at that! We did some more playtime as well, and ended class with a 3 minute down stay. I had done this quite well before, but I was a little off tonight, so I got up twice. I think I got 3rd place :(

Another Playdate with Yara

Wednesday, April 29-

Tonight, I got to go meet up with my pal Yara for an evening of fun! I love going to Yara's house to play, she is a very worthy opponent for my beastly play style.

We didn't play too long when we got there because our moms were hungry, so we walked to the car. They decided to see how we would both do in the back of Mom's car, and we were great. Apparently this was a test drive for our upcoming adventure, whatever that is...

We went to a very cool restaurant but once again they get a big paws down for service. Is it too much to ask to drop me a burger every once in a while??? Yara was so boring at dinner, I kept trying to play with her, but she just laid there. The one bad thing about shepherds, they are too serious about their work!

After dinner we went to my favorite place ever-the food store! Yara and I didn't have to work in there, just try to contain our excitement. We met another dog, he was really cute. I think our exhuberant greeting scared him a little, though.

We ended the night with some more playtime with the new toy Yara's mom bought for us. It is awesome!

Puppy Class

Monday, April 27-

Today Mom and I had puppy class. This week's "theme" was cleaning, so us pups had to show our self-control when it came to everyday cleaning routines. Mom and I started at the bed making station (yeah, like Mom makes her bed!). I had to do a down stay while Mom made the bed. Then we had to move to the sweeping and dusting station. This one was hard for me because I LOVE to chase the broom. This time Mom had me in a down stay and treated me while the class helper pushed the broom. Then I was really good-I am a Lab, I will work very well for food!

The next station was the laundry station. Again, I had to do a down stay while Mom folded the laundry. And the last station was cleaning up the dog toys. This was the toughest one yet! I had to do a down stay while Mom tossed all kinds of cool toys into a basket. I did very well with that, completely surprising Mom, and earning myself lots of cookies :)

After that we had to switch handlers. I went to Stanton's mom, who I LOVE!!! She is so nice and has yummy treats. I was very excited! We did the stations again with our new handlers. I was an angel-except when it came to that broom ;) Then we switched back to our own Moms for "Get Dressed" practice. We all brought different things to use and share. I had an adorable hot pink lei that I was totally working, but something tells me the boys didn't appreciate having to wear that. I had to Get Dressed with the lei, a belt, and an ID tag. I did them all flawlessly-afterall, GD is one of my fave commands!

We ended the class with a little playtime and then headed home. I was one tired little girl!

Vacation

I just got back from my sitter's house and boy did I have a great vacation. Ann and her family had to do a 3 day sit before they get their first GEB puppy and they wanted to have me :) Mom happily agreed since it was pretty boring around here with all her studying. I'm really glad she did!

The first night I missed Mom a lot, I even whined in my crate all night. The next day I realized how fun this place was so I got over it. We went on a bunch of walks and met all of the family pets (a tiny dog, a cat, a rabbit, and some hamsters). I even went to a lacrosse game where I got to practice my people greetings. I was a pro!

Ann brought me home today and told Mom how I was such a good girl and I was welcome back anytime. What can I say, I'm a charmer!

Secret Pal!

So Mom has been playing a Secret Pal game online for Lab owners. This week we got our last package and boy was it a great one! I got lots of toys which at first Mom split in half to save for Irie and Josette, but Grandma said to keep them all!!!! It's like Christmas all over again! Check out my loot:

And an extremely embarrassing pic that Mom insisted on posting:

Dogswalk for Cancer

Today, Josette and I got to help out a worthy cause-the American Cancer Society. We participated in their annual Dogswalk that supports both human and canine cancer research. It was a great day for me since I got to meet lots of other dogs and sniff everything! I walked with Mom and Grandma during the walk, but mostly with Mom for the rest of the day. I wasn't up to par with my normal behavior, but Mom forgave me since it was a pretty tough day for a guide dog in training! Needless to say, I was exhausted after all that and I crashed as soon as we got back into the car.
