Dinner with Yara

To celebrate the end of Mom's classes, Yara and I decided to take our moms to dinner. We went to a book store first and then walked to the restaurant. Us girls were really well behaved and mostly slept the entire meal. Afterward we took a walk around the plaza and took some pictures.

Same Old Things

These past four weeks can be summed up in one word-BORING!!! Mom had to take a bunch of classes so I stayed home with the roomie all day. She's cool but I missed my mom a lot so I wasn't always on my best behavior. Mom tried to take me out when she could, but it was never anywhere exciting. I'll just list where we went, since there are no stories to go with them:

Best Buy
restaurants
farmers market
mall
puppy class
watching Irie's agility class
3 day swap
Valvoline
grocery store
Georgina's
parks

That seems like a lot of places now, but they were all pretty boring. I did get to go to Grandma and Grandpa's almost every weekend so I got to play and go out there.

A bunch of my pictures made it onto the GEB website. This one even made the home page!

I think I've been on there about 5 times now-I may start calling myself a Cover Girl :)

One day I had my GEB Walk and Talk. I was definitely not on my best behavior that day, but GEB seems to think I am becoming a teenager. Whatever! I just do what I want when I want-does that sound like a teenager to you? Needless to say Mom has been stepping things up now that 2 of her classes ended.

So that pretty much sums up my month, hopefully there will be more exciting adventures to come!

A Really LONG Walk

Today we got up nice and early and everyone loaded into the family van. Aunt Wendy was home for a few days and so there was enough people for the dogs (for once). We got out at this park that smelled really good! and had lots of other people in it. The 8 of us hit the trails and walked for a really long time. Eventually we came to a big lake and we all got to go swimming. We were the only dogs there, but we sure put on a show for all the people. I am a natural at this swimming thing, so Irie and I retrieved the bumper like crazy. Josette and Indiana mostly waded, but they did come in far a few times. After we finished we had to walk back, everyone was complaining about how tired they were but I was ready for more! When we finally got home everyone crashed, except for me so I had to play by myself. Good thing I am an awesome player :)

Birthday Time

Mom's birthday was on the 18th, and I got to go out to dinner with her and the family. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but I'm pretty sure that no one would have noticed me if we weren't. I curled up in the corner and slept off my exciting road trip.

The next day Mom did something crazy-she had her wisdom removed! I told her I didn't think it was a good idea, but she insisted. Us pups stayed at home with a frozen Kong while Mom and Grandma went to the doctors. When they came home, Mom couldn't really talk well, apparently human wisdom is kept in the teeth. Weird! The next few days were pretty lazy, but by the weekend we were ready to hit the mall. I was wonderful and Mom seemed to do alright having just lost all her wisdom. I trained her well, I guess.

My First Road Trip!

Mom's alarm went off super early yesterday morning. What's that all about? I thought this was summer vacation??? Then, SHE PUT ME IN MY CRATE!!! Again, this is summer-that should mean no crates, right? Wrong! Before I knew it she was back and guess who was with her?!?! YARA!!! I was so excited and the playing commenced almost immediately. I could tell Mom was getting ready to leave the apartment since she was packing, but I was too busy to ask where we were headed this time.

Later in the afternoon Mom shoved Yara and I in the back of the car and we headed back to Yara's house. I thought we were just dropping her off, but Yara's mom got in the car and we started driving again. Cool, my very first road trip! It was pretty boring seeing as Yara wouldn't play with me, but lucky for me Mom's car has these cool knob things that make great chew toys. Somehow I don't think Mom appreciated that, but it kept me quiet!

When we finally got out, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. There were shepherds everywhere! Big ones, small ones, furry ones, black and tan ones-basically any type of shepherd you can imagine I saw. It was awesome. When we walked in I was treated like a little celebrity. Everyone commented on what a little cutie I am, and I just worked the crowd. It was awesome. Mom dragged me away from my adoring fans to get her room and then we all headed up there in an elevator with quite possibly the most gorgeous dog I have ever met. I was in LOVE!!! When we got to Mom's room Yara and I restarted our wrestling match from the morning. We had a blast playing keep away and at one point we both ended up in my little travel crate. Now that was a sight!

I had some dinner after a while and then we went out to relieve ourselves. After that Mom stuck me in my crate and left. That crate is none too sturdy and is no match for the Fay Beast so when Mom came to check on me during dinner she found me on the other side of the room and upside down. And she wonders why I was barking!!!

The next morning Mom and I headed downstairs for breakfast. The awesome waitress offered me some sausage but Mom shot her down faster than I could have scarfed the link. Moms ruin everything! We loaded up the car and headed out. When I got out of the car this time I was again surrounded by shepherds. We found Yara and her crew and joined in on the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation's Walkathon. I was very well behaved and again somewhat of a celebrity, although there were much more other dogs there today.

After we did our loop we got into the car and headed to the school. I didn't get to go inside, but Mom wasn't gone for long. We went and had lunch where I proceeded to pass out on the floor and take a well-deserved nap. Before I knew it we had to head home to Grandma and Grandpa's. Mom gave me a stuffed Kong to avoid anymore "damage" as she likes to call it and I slept the rest of the trip.

I had a great time meeting all of my new pals this weekend. Mom always says guide dog schools are like colleges, man I wish Fidelco would accept my application. I love me some German Shepherds :)
