Happy Birthday to me!!!

That's right folks, it's my birthday! Mom cannot believe it (nor can anyone else since I am such a little gal!), but here we are. It's hard to think that last year at this time I was a hairy little sweet potato nursing on my mom and now I am a big girl who has conquered every challenge Mom can throw at me. True to my nature, we had a celebration week, rather than just one day. It started with a short road trip to a park. We first had a nice picnic lunch ( I got to hang out under the table-Happy Birthday to me!), then learned a little about the park we were in. After that we walked a ways and came upon a river! Mom got out the long line and I knew that meant one thing-swimming! I had a blast fetching as many sticks as Mom could find and scooting my little butt off when I got on land. I slept really well that night!

The next day we went to pick out my birthday present. I ended up going with a new style Nylabone, which Mom insists on making me wait for! And for the weekend we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's. Mom had to stop to get her car fixed on the way home, so we took a long walk around town. And when I say long, I mean LONG! Mom noticed I was getting a little hot so we decided to stop at the local pet store where she knew they'd have a water bowl outside. I wasn't too thirsty at that point, but Mom was so we went and grabbed an iced coffee and chilled at a table outside. There were a lot of other people and dogs there, but I surprised Mom and ignored them (I am an adult now!). This one little girl asked politely to pet me, so Mom let her. I just laid there and soaked in the love. She offered me some of her soda but Mom declined. Um, excuse me, I think she was talking to me, Mom!

On Saturday Irie and I got to go swimming. This was a new spot so it took us a while to find it, but we didn't mind the extra walking. Irie got to be off leash, but I'm not allowed. Mom did attach Irie's long leash to mine so I had a super long leash, which was nice. Afterwards we stopped at the feed store to buy food for the big dogs and they were having a big sale! Mom stocked up on a bunch of treats for me-Yum! When we got home Grandma filled up the baby pool so we all got to cool down. I think she had ulterior motives though because that delicious pond smell was gone after some time in the pool...

Tonight there happens to be a puppy class so we will have a big celebration complete with the cookies Mom has been baking! I will post more on that when we get home!

Day Trips

This week Mom, Roomie, and I went on a day trip to some old house. We walked around the outside for a bit, Mom taking a bunch of pictures and then toured the inside. Through my sniffing I determined that I was one of the first dogs to set foot in that house in quite some time. I was very well behaved, so maybe they will let more of us in soon.

Today, Grandma and Josette came up for a visit. We headed to this store that Grandma has been wanting to visit for a while. They sell all kinds of fun stuff including puzzles for dogs. Josette and I had a blast trying all of them out in the store and I was glad to see Grandma got one to take home. I'm so smart I'm sure I will have it figured out in no time! We also got some tasty treats to take home-YUM! We stopped on the way home so the humans could grab something to eat and were we surprsied to see they had a special place just for us canines.

In case you were wondering, we took full advantage of the frisbee and cookie offer ;)

We got an award!

Thanks to Lisa and Ellie for this award:

10 Things About Me:

1) My favorite activity is nursing. I will suck on toys and blankets, and will do it for hours. I usually fall asleep this way since it reminds me of my momma.

2) Mom says I am her easiest puppy yet. I have fantastic manners and learn very quickly. It also doesn't hurt that I am quite the confident little gal ;)

3) I walk really slow. Mom jokes that it takes twice as long doing an errand not because people talk to me or because I misbehave, but because I am a snail!

4) My mom loves me so much she got me my very own German Shepherd. I take very good care of Josette because I promised Mom I would if she got me one.

5) I am afraid of Frontline. That stuff stinks, so when the first rolls around, I hide!

6) I get the Lab Scoots at the drop of a hat! My favorite place to do them is in the backyard at Grandma and Grandpa's.

7) I've met both of my parents.

8) Mom is pretty much convinced I am a clone of Pandora, my momma. We look AND act exactly the same.

9) I'm a "mini Lab"-only 47 lbs at 11 months!

10) I love the beach! I'm really hoping my forever home has beach access-wouldn't that be awesome?!?!

I pass this on to whoever wants to join in!

I guess I'm a city girl!

Another adventure we had over break was a trip to New York City. Mom told me all about it ahead of time, but I don't know why she built it up so much. I took the whole thing in stride and didn't bat an eye at any of the interesting sites or sounds. We took the train down, then hit Times Square, followed by Rockefeller Center, a quick bite to eat (for the humans), and then back on the train to head home. North and his mom came along as tour guides, so it was nice to have some canine companionship. Apparently we were more popular than NYC itself, since we were photographed on numerous occasions. One guy even took a picture with me-I must be super cute!

Vacation

Mom and I had a 2 week break from classes, one of which was spent at the beach! I have never been to the beach before but I sure hope I get to go back! I had the best time running into the waves and swimming a little, when the water got high enough. Quite possibly the best part was digging in the sand. I LOVE to dig but Mom never lets me do it at home. At the beach, however, I could dig until I was exhausted and I did just that! I got a little bit of work in, but this was mostly all play.

School

I have finally started going to school with Mom. I wonder what took her so long to bring me, this place is awesome! There are always things going on and lots of people who fawn all over me. Not to mention when we go into the classroom and the teacher turns off all the lights-naptime is awesome! I don't know why Mom complains about it all the time...

I'll have to bug Mom to take the camera for our last day tomorrow. Hopefully I can go with her when her other classes start, though.

Dinner with Yara

To celebrate the end of Mom's classes, Yara and I decided to take our moms to dinner. We went to a book store first and then walked to the restaurant. Us girls were really well behaved and mostly slept the entire meal. Afterward we took a walk around the plaza and took some pictures.
